Travel

We know that most of you will be joining us from afar, so we aggregated here all the information you will need to plan for a smooth trip to our wedding. We recommend everyone to fly into Barcelona and take advantage of the opportunity to explore Catalunya, Spain and beyond.

The town surrounding the Castell of Tamarit is called Altafulla. That is where we suggest you find accommodation for a few days around the wedding date. Altafulla is a small coastal town in Catalonia, about an hour south of Barcelona by car or by train. You will find a walkable town, golden sandy beaches, and a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the relaxed pace of life on Spain’s Costa Dorada. It’s an ideal setting for gathering together and will serve as the home base for our wedding celebration!

Transportation Options from Barcelona to Altafulla

Train

Renfe / Rodalies

  • Ticket prices typically range from €7 to €11, though some low-cost fares start as low as €4 to €6.
Car

By Car

    • Budget-friendly option: Take the Aerobús (€6.75, 35 min) to Barcelona–Sants, then a Rodalies/R15 train to Altafulla (€5–8, 50 min), followed by a short local bus or taxi (5 minutes) into town. Total travel: ~1.5–2 hours; cost: ~€15–20 a2b.com.

Flights

We chose to get married near Barcelona in no small part because it is easy to reach! There are most likely direct flights from the major airport closest to you. We invite you to keep an eye on prices - track them using Google Flights or services such as Hopper - because they will fluctuate. Routes will become available 11 months before the departure date, around October of 2025. Consider that the longer you wait to secure the tickets the riskier it gets! If you are traveling from the US beware of Labor Day pricing, as the holiday can push up prices considerably.

Accommodation

We would love for you to stay in Altafulla for the days around the wedding, so that we can have opportunities to spend time together without you having to worry about traveling back and forth to Barcelona. Altafulla has many accommodation options, from boutique hotels to short term rentals, campgrounds and glamping! We’re adding below a few links to some of the many options. Check them out, and find what best fits your needs.

Keep in mind that because late August is still the high season on the Costa Dorada and mid-September overlaps with local festivals (Catalonia’s National Day - Sept 11; Santa Tecla festival in Tarragona - mid-Sept), it’s best to book early. We recommend to start looking at hotels, rentals, or campgrounds 9–11 months in advance (fall 2025) to secure the best price, selection and availability. If you prefer more flexibility, choose refundable rates and shop periodically so you can adjust plans later if you find savings.
